FAQ

FAQ iconQ. What is your hourly rate?
A. My hourly rate is $95, with a 1 hour minimum. I charge in 15 minute increments after the first hour.

Q. Do you make house calls?
A. Yes. I frequently visit clients homes and businesses, when required. Travel within Multnomah and Washington county is free.

Q. Do you have an office location?
A. For both cost and convenience reasons, I operate my consulting business entirely out of my home, in SE Portland. Drop-offs and pick-ups are not available, but I will gladly come to you.

Q. Do you offer on-call emergency service?
A. Yes. At a rate of $190/hr (1 hr minimum) I am available on call 24/7. I can be reached at 503.703.4545. If your issue simply cannot wait, please feel to give me a call. I do not guarantee my availability during off-hours, but if I'm in town, then I make my best effort to be available.

Q. What if I need to reschedule or cancel my consulting appointment?
A. I ask that clients give at least 24 hours notice for rescheduling or cancellation. In the event of a no-show appointment, the standard one-hour minimum will be charged (plus applicable mileage if over 10 miles outside Portland).

Q. Do you work with Windows machines as well?
A. Normally, no. I will generally make an exception and offer basic Windows consulting only for preexisting home Macintosh clients. If you're in need of Windows help, I recommend contacting RedPine Systems.

Q. Do you repair iPods/iPhones?
A. Due to the intricate nature of iPods and iPhones, I don't generally repair them. I recommend checking out iResQ or iRepair Squad for your iPod/iPhone repair needs.

Q. Do you charge for email/phone advice?
A. Only if the issue requires more than 15 minutes of time, in which case I begin charging in 15 minute increments. Some clients choose to have me do odds and ends, or answer their various email questions, and pay the resulting tab at the end of the month.

Q. What payment methods do you accept?
A. I accept all major credit cards, Paypal transfer, electronic-check, and of course...cash. I do accept written checks from established clients and businesses.

Q. Do you repair machines that are under warranty?
A. I will do basic hardware upgrades (memory and hard drive) but not hardware repairs. If your Apple product is under factory warranty, then I recommend taking it to an official Apple retailer for physical repair. If you're in Portland you might try Apple's store list, or check out Mac Force.

Q. What if I'm unable to pay my invoice on time?
A. Please let me know if this is the case. I will waive the late-fee the first time, after which late fees are 10% of the current balance, every 30 days. In the event of a returned check there will be a $35 returned check bank fee.
